Police ask for help finding missing New Orleans teenager

New Orleans - Cierra Thomas was last seen getting off a school bus in Uptown New Orleans. It was Wednesday, about 8:30 a.m. A security guard told police that the 15-year-old girl, instead of entering Sojourner Truth Academy, announced she was going to a store.

No one has heard from her since, officer Hilal Williams said.

Her mother described the behavior as uncharacteristic of her daughter who has been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and depression, Williams said.

She is about 5-foot-4 and weighs 150 pounds. She has brown eyes and medium-length black hair. She was wearing a white polo-style shirt and black pants.

Anyone who may have seen or heard from Cierra Thomas is asked to call the New Orleans Police Department's non-emergency line at 821-2222, Williams said.
